Berlin is a political center in Europe and its history is largely shaped by politics. During our tour through Berlin’s key political sights we examine the legacy politics left on Berlin’s structure, culture and economy. From the Reichstag to the Berlin wall, from checkpoint Charlie to the sight where Hitler’s Bunker was bombed, we look at the traces of political powers that swept over the city through the centuries.

Frederick the Great - the longest reigning of the Hohenzollern kings – was awakened by a cannon every day of his childhood – his father wanted him to become a fine soldier. But young Fritz preferred music, literature and science to military practice. Under his rule Berlin became a center of Enlightenment - an intellectual movement which dominated the world of ideas in the 18th century.
